Robert and Mason both dropped their toy guns, nearly in unison. Plastic clattered against the floor, and the fleeing crowds slowed. A few people stopped, a few turned around. Mason and Robert had an audience as they both dropped down to the floor, collapsing in on themselves. I could see blood starting to stain Robert’s jeans, pooling around his thigh. It was darker than I’ve always imagined.
It didn’t look like in the movies.
